sv388 Our Program

East Los Angeles College proudly offers a wide range of classes through community services (not-for-credit) designed to be accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Whether you're looking to learn something new or pick up a hobby, our classes provide a welcoming environment without needing a traditional college application. While our community services classes are open to toddlers and seniors, they're also designed to be a fun and engaging way to learn new skills or hobbies. Whether you're looking to enrich your life, meet new people, or explore a new passion, we're here to support you every step of the way.

Not-for-credit (community services) courses are fee-based, designed for personal enrichment, professional growth, and recreational learning. They do not require a college application and are open to all ages. The tuition fees we collect directly support the class and this program.

Credit courses apply toward degrees and certificates, meeting Title 5 and California Education Code (§70901) requirements. They follow grading standards and may be transferable to universities. sv388 is a leader in supporting students in earning an AA or AS degree and preparing students for transfer to a university. To learn more, meet with a counselor or visit /student-services/counseling

Noncredit courses (Ed Code §84757) are tuition-free and focus on skills development in areas like ESL, basic skills, workforce preparation, and lifelong learning, but do not count toward degrees, but many of the programs award certificates. Learn more by visiting /academics/cewd
