The mission of the Foster and Kinship Care Education (FKCE) Program is to provide high-quality education and support to caregivers of children and youth in out-of-home care. We strive to empower caregivers with the knowledge and skills they need to meet the educational, emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs of children and youth in the foster care system.
La misi贸n del Programa de Educaci贸n para Padres de Crianza y Parientes (FKCE) es brindar educaci贸n y apoyo de alta calidad a los cuidadores de ni帽os y j贸venes en hogares fuera del n煤cleo familiar. Nos esforzamos por empoderar a los cuidadores con el conocimiento y las habilidades necesarias para satisfacer las necesidades educativas, emocionales, conductuales y de desarrollo de los ni帽os y j贸venes en el sistema de crianza.
Overview/Resumen
The Foster and Kinship Care Education Program (FKCE), originally known as the Foster Care Education (FCE) program, was established in 1984 under Senate Bill 2003 (Royce), also known as the Foster Children and Parent Training Act. This act designated the Chancellor鈥檚 Office of the California Community Colleges as the agency responsible for administering the program. Its purpose is to provide foster parents and relative caregivers with education and training opportunities to better meet the needs of the children in their care.
El Programa de Educaci贸n para Padres de Crianza y Parientes (FKCE), anteriormente conocido como el programa de Educaci贸n para Padres de Crianza (FCE), se estableci贸 en 1984 bajo el Proyecto de Ley del Senado 2003 (Royce), tambi茅n conocido como la Ley de Capacitaci贸n para Ni帽os y Padres de Crianza. Esta ley design贸 a la Oficina del Canciller de los Colegios Comunitarios de California como la agencia responsable de administrar el programa. Collaborations / Colaboraciones
At the state level, the Chancellor鈥檚 Office works in partnership with the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) on matters affecting the education and training of foster parents and relative caregivers. The CDSS also participates on the FKCE State Advisory Committee, which includes care providers and county representatives.
At the local level, each college FKCE program collaborates with their County Department of Social Services and local foster parent/care provider organizations. Local advisory committees assist with program referrals and provide guidance on the type and format of training needed to serve their communities effectively.
A nivel estatal, la Oficina del Canciller trabaja en colaboraci贸n con el Departamento de Servicios Sociales de California (CDSS) en asuntos que afectan la educaci贸n y capacitaci贸n de los padres de crianza y cuidadores familiares. El CDSS tambi茅n participa en el Comit茅 Asesor Estatal del programa FKCE, junto con proveedores de cuidado y representantes del condado.
A nivel local, cada programa FKCE universitario colabora con su Departamento de Servicios Sociales del Condado y con organizaciones locales de padres/cuidadores de crianza. Los comit茅s asesores locales ayudan con las referencias al programa y brindan orientaci贸n sobre el tipo y formato de la capacitaci贸n necesaria para atender eficazmente a sus comunidades.
